Little known Marari Beach, not far from Alleppey in Kerala, is perfect for those people exploring the Kerala backwaters who feel like some time at the beach as well. This beach is quiet and undeveloped. The name Marari is shortened from from Mararikulam, a small and sleepy fisherman's village.
Marari Beach Resort is a CGH Earth Group (Formerly known as the Casino Group), located at 60 kms from Kochi (Kerala, India), set in 25 acres of Coconut Palm groves leading down to the vast expanse of beach.
Marari originates from "Mararikulam", one of the local fishing villages, where life still goes on much as it did a hundred years ago, with the men going out to sea each day to earn a living bringing in the daily catch. Completely new to the holiday maker. Marari offers endless miles of superb sand beaches backed by swaying palms, virgin territory where you can experience the local charm/and traditional Keralan Hospitality at it's best.
The Marari Beach is built in the style of a traditional fishing village with thatched villas that have been designed to be in keeping with the local village style.
Main Attractions in Marari
Marari is a developing tourist destination. It is at it's primitive stage, unnoticed and sleepy. The best thing that you will enjoy here is the slow and relaxing life. But there are many attractions in Alleppy.
If you are there in August, you can enjoy the snake boat race. Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race is held on the second Saturday of August. Traditional houseboats which are manned by more than hundred people, singing at their high pitch and competing for the cup is worth watchable.
Alapuzha temple festivals are impressive. Don't worry if you are a non-Hindu. Unlike other temples in Kerala, Alapuzha temples allow everyone. Five elephants carrying the Krisha idol and walking a long distance in the accompaniment of music is a rare occasion.
St. Marry's Church ( Champamkulam palli) is a famous church in Alleppy. It is believed that this is one among the seven churches established by St. Thomas.
If you want to add more colour to your trip,
Kumarakom bird sanctuary, backwaters and the traditional coir making units are also excellent destinations.
